Zeno Acne Device Clinical Reviews
August 21, 2007
Zeno is a battery powered treatment for individual pimples. The device works as heat therapy to reduce or remove pimples that have become inflamed by mild or moderate acne. Zeno is not intended to combat your widespread acne. What you do is place the medical device directly on the pimple for two and a half minutes. The best time to attack that pimple with your Zeno device is when it first appears. You should never use Zeno on cystic acne, however.
Description of the Zeno Device
A new user described the Zeno machine. Rectangular, it is three inches wide and give inches long. It was described as a cross between a Zippo lighter and a slim cellular phone. It comes with the first treatment cartridge already where it belongs, which is handy. The cartridge has a raised circle on its top, which is what you place right on your pimple.
Before you use Zeno for the first time you have to give it at least six hours to fully charge.
How it Works
The way your Zeno device works is to use its internal computer to determine how much energy it needs to deliver to the pimple to kill the bacteria. This should happen after no more than three treatments. Zeno is not going to make your skin overly dry like some topical creams, although the treated area may be read for a short time.
Reviewers have suggested that Zeno is a loud machine and that its light is too bright and can shine uncomfortably in their eyes. Another complaint was that you can only use it three times before you have to stop and wait three more minutes before zapping that fourth pimple. One reviewer said she thought that her pimples were less sore and reduced but she really wasn’t sure, and she balked at the price of the Zeno and primarily at the cost of the replacement cartridge tips.
How Much it Costs (and How to Save)
Zeno will cost you $150 or more for the initial machine. As reported by a reviewer, the addition cartridge tips come in doses of 30, 60 or 90 treatments. As an example, a 60 dose cartridge is $25-$30. What this amounts to, the reviewer calculated, is a cost of $1.50 for a three treatment removal of one pimple. She figured that if she had three pimples every day and they each took three treatments to dissipate she’d be spending five dollars a day to maybe avert or eliminate her pimples. She said it wasn’t worth it.
